Saturday : Bottlecraft, Helmuth, Glashaus

If you're bouncing around town Saturday night, here are three suggestions for art-related happenings in Little Italy, Downtown, and Barrio Logan:

Yeller Studio is teaming up with Bottlecraft again, this time showcasing the illustrative work of Dane Danner. Check out a show preview and details here.

Helmuth Projects, in the Library Lofts on E St., is hosting a stacked group show with each artist "reinterpreting a personal momento that signifies loss, absence, and the passing of time". Check out the artist roster and details here.

To cap your night off, head down to The Glashaus in Barrio Logan for their third anniversary party. There will be open artist studios, live music from the Mattson 2, and the night's proceeds will benefit the fine folks at ICE Gallery.

Art As A Weapon : Update From Burma

Early last month, San Diego based Breadtruck Films set out to make a street art documentary which many of you helped fund via Kickstarter. Inspired by Shepard Fairey's 30 foot mural of a Burmese monk in Southpark, the team decided to travel to the town of Mae Sot on the Thai/Burma border. A three-man crew set out to uncover the story behind Shepard's mural, while exploring Buddhism, Burma and how street art could change the world. They met with monks, artists, students, and underground revolutionists. After 19 days of graffiti, hiding from the Thai police, cheap street food and beer, they headed back to San Diego with over 100 hours of footage that is now being cut into a feature length documentary.

Check out some stills from their trip below, and follow Art As A Weapon here.

Dynamic Duo : Scavenger Hunt, Subtext

Over the past couple years, the artwork, illustration, wheat pasting, and sticker bombing of Exist 1981 and Tocayo have flooded our city.  From restaurant interiors and galleries to street signs and back alleys, these two prolific artists have meshed their contrasting styles and continually teamed up whenever an opportunity arose.  On Friday, February 3rd Exist and Tocayo will debut their latest tag team effort, a comprehensive gallery show at Subtext in Little Italy.

The Dynamic Duo have been cranking on a ton of new work for this show, and to celebrate tomorrow night's opening we put together a city wide scavenger hunt with some pretty rad prizes. Here's the deal, we placed 5 cardboard posters around town, and if you track down one of these and bring it to Subtext Gallery tomorrow night you'll win a free t-shirt or screen print from the Dynamic Duo.

Only one per person, and you must cash in your golden ticket tomorrow night between 6-10pm at Subtext Gallery. Drop us a tweet or facebook post when/if you find one.  Happy hunting...

**Update** All five clues have been found. See you all at Subtext tomorrow!
