Over the past couple years, the artwork, illustration, wheat pasting, and sticker bombing of Exist 1981 and Tocayo have flooded our city. From restaurant interiors and galleries to street signs and back alleys, these two prolific artists have meshed their contrasting styles and continually teamed up whenever an opportunity arose. On Friday, February 3rd Exist and Tocayo will debut their latest tag team effort, a comprehensive gallery show at Subtext in Little Italy.
The Dynamic Duo have been cranking on a ton of new work for this show, and to celebrate tomorrow night's opening we put together a city wide scavenger hunt with some pretty rad prizes. Here's the deal, we placed 5 cardboard posters around town, and if you track down one of these and bring it to Subtext Gallery tomorrow night you'll win a free t-shirt or screen print from the Dynamic Duo.
Only one per person, and you must cash in your golden ticket tomorrow night between 6-10pm at Subtext Gallery. Drop us a tweet or facebook post when/if you find one. Happy hunting...
**Update** All five clues have been found. See you all at Subtext tomorrow!

So Say We All, the local arts non-profit is teaming up with Habitat House to present a collection of highlights from the last 3 years of their live literary showcases. This Sunday, each writer will perform a live reading of their essay and ten visual artists matched up with one of the writers will exhibit work inspired by each essay. Doors will open at 6pm and the readings will begin promptly at 7pm. Make sure to be on time as the living room will fill up quick. Donations will be accepted for So Say We All and while it’s not mandatory, they sure would appreciate it. For a full list of artists and writers click here.

A few months ago we reported on an individual artist grant offered by the San Diego Foundation. The Creative Catalyst Fund was created to fund up to 19 artists currently working in San Diego, focusing at the emerging level as a means to take selected artist's careers to a new level. We're thrilled to announce that longtime Sezio collaborators Wes Bruce and Joel P West have each been awarded a grant for 2012.
Each artist had to apply through an eligible non-profit within San Diego County. Wes Bruce will be sponsored by Lux Art Institute, and Joel will be working with Camarada, whose focus is to present classical and chamber music in new, engaging venues. Sound artist Margaret Noble was also selected and will be working with MCASD. The UT announced the full, 15 artist list yesterday.
We'll keep you posted throughout 2012 on their ambitious, year-long projects. For now, enjoy a previous collaboration between Joel and Wes.
