David Byrne + Topspin Media

The Music industry is in disarray. Popular services like Pandora and Muxtape are close to extermination by the panicking record labels. (Which in my opinion is idiotic, when all Pandora does is introduce people to more of the record label's product). Back to the point, one company may have a solution, or at least part of it.

Topspin Media is run by music industry veteran Ian Rogers. Ian toured with the Beastie Boys in the 90's, and ran Yahoo! Music for the first half of this decade. Their full platform of software has not been released, but they are previewing a bit of it with David Byrne's new project.

Below you can stream "Everything that happens will happen today".

The Donkeys Finish "Living on the Other Side"

San Diego vintage-rock band The Donkeys have finished a new collection of tunes and this time they have a little help from Dead Oceans Records (Bowerbirds, Evangelicals, Dirty Projectors).  Living on the Other Side will be released nationally on September 9th, but you can pick it up at the CD release party this Friday (8/22) at the Whistle Stop.  Come celebrate the new record and give the boys a proper farewell before they hit the road.

RIP Isaac Hayes

Isaac Hayes, widely considered one of the thickest roots of rap and urban music, has died in his Tennessee home this weekend.  He was 65.

Band Diagram

I snagged this from The Vision of a Dying World's myspace.

The Creative Community is alive and well in San Diego, and it is a good thing to see.  (Especially when it is diagrammed so nicely)

To check out these projects; link below...

The Vision of a Dying World, Scarlet Symphony, Charles Musket, The Paddle Boat, Black Mamba, Jamuel Saxon, Red Feathers.
