"VWA - LA" @ Planet Rooth

Planet Rooth | 12/19/2008

Having no expectations, my camera, and only knowledge of Eliot Greenwald’s day job at the local café, I headed out to Planet Rooth for the opening of “VWA – LA” last month.  I was immediately stoked on Eliot’s work.  Beautiful wood canvases, golden glazes, and organic root-like interconnectedness filled the room.  Taking a closer look, I saw rad looking people and faces from the past.  Hands were intertwined and faces were emerging from stomachs and orifices.  Many brought a smile to my face, a couple made me laugh.

Eliot Greenwald's artist reception is this Saturday from 6-11 pm @ Planet Rooth

I'm so proud of you, Eliot, for putting yourself out there to invite the appreciation you deserve. So imaginative, bold, unique, humorous, fine. Clearly the family art-gene is in your blood, or should say, roots?! Keep up the great work.

Commenting on the life, people and events taking place around us is commonplace now days, we hear talk radio everyplace we go. However when an artist is able to extract and freeze those comments into an image that speaks in it's own way, and makes the viewer look back at it another time, they have courage and vision. Bravo...Eliot!
