2010 : A Year in Review

Wow, this year was a blur. Our 501c(3) celebration at The Casbah in January seemed to roll right into our year end show with The Growlers, Little Deadman, and Writer on December 29th. In between we hosted some unique art shows, amazing concerts, and made a lot of new friends. Take a minute and relive 2010 with us...

We assembled an all-star cast to paint the walls of the Boat House in February. For a week straight a handful of San Diego's best artists inhabited the foreclosed home, culminating with a house party for the record books.

In March we hosted Washed Out, Small Black, and Pictureplane at Sushi Art for a sweaty dance party with three of the year's hottest blog bands.

In April and September, we transferred the contents of our garage down to Horton Plaza for some live screen printing at Thread Show.

Collaborating with Holiday Matinee, we hosted The Tree Ring and Black Mamba at MCASD, La Jolla. It was a magical evening of music, good friends, and paper airplane throwing.

May marked the launch of Sezio's Membership Program with a party at Starlite. If you haven't joined the club yet, go big time with a Sezio Membership (only $40, and comes with lots of perks).

We followed Joel P West and The Tree Ring on their trip out to Nashvile for 4 days of music, heat, and busted RVs at Bonnaroo. Full documentation of that journey can be found here.

Sezio.org turned 2 years old in June, and we celebrated with a Kettner block party at Subtext Gallery and The Casbah. 20 previously featured artists customized their own 12 x 12 panel, and all of our friends stopped by for a picture in the photobooth.

We collaborated with Set & Drift and the Museum of Contemporary Art on a street art bike tour of downtown San Diego, highlighting MCASD's Viva La Revolucion exhibition.

We hosted shows with a bunch of our favorite out of town acts, including Beach Fossils (pictured below), Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr., The Growlers, Class Actress, Young Prisms, Ben Sollee, and Traffique.

Sezio and Holiday Matinee participated in Park(ing) Day once again, claiming our spot in front of Burger Lounge in Little Italy. This year the brothers Ralph of Writer joined us for an impromptu set along India St.

Sezio Wednesdays launched at Starlite, featuring DJ sets from various Sezio staff members. We'll continue this the second Wednesday of every month in 2011, with hand-picked local artists and musicians taking over the turn tables.

We moved our office and screen printing operation into the Habitat House in Golden Hill, also reviving the house as a sporadic music venue and art gallery.

With the help of artist Wes Bruce, we transformed Sushi Art into a giant gypsy tent which hosted some of our favorite California-based bands including The Dodos (pictured below), Avi Buffalo, and SF up-and-comers Dominant Legs. Four Day Weekend 4eva.

A huge thanks to our community partners who helped us survive this year -- Starlite, The Casbah, Fruit of the Soul, The Linkery, El Take It Easy, and Riviera Supper Club.

If you haven't pledged your membership to Sezio yet, please do! We need your help to continue creating amazing events in San Diego. $40 gets you discounts to all of the above establishments, plus some exclusive Sezio gear. Pick up your membership kit here, and we'll see you in 2011!
