Traveling Light : Writer Explores the Central Valley

To celebrate and spread the word about their new record "Blood Drops," Writer loaded up Darth (Andy's Honda Element) and headed out to explore some of the neglected corners of California.  They brought back a collection of random disposable camera photographs along with these stories, as told by James Ralph.

Our Trip started in Long Beach, which was just close enough to have some of our dear friends drive up to see us.  One of them being, Crystal who sang with us at our San Diego release, as well as our long beach release.

Eli is here in a ubiquitous V neck and some cheap ass sunglasses that he bought at a Rite Aid or something… but don’t let that fool you! Johnny Q had some great story that I don’t remember about Patricks mom or something.

Rice, Potatoes, Tapatio, Budweiser and an enormous street fair full of acorn eaters that made it out of their tree houses long enough to stink up mountain views generally clean and beautiful scenery. The simple things in life taste so much better parked on the side of the road.

The press club in Sacramento... how did i get stuck taking all these damn pictures? The owner of that place bought us sushi in exchange for a ride because he was three sheets by 1:30 in the afternoon. It worked out to be a good deal. $50 dollars in sushi in exchange for about $.38 in gas.

San Francisco... we don’t even know where to begin… just YouTube ‘Joel Evan.’ Anyhow, we played with teen heart throbs and stayed with good good friends who cooked us amazing waffles and introduced us to the last unicorn, im not really a unicorn guy myself but if you are, I’m sure you have seen this animation masterpiece. Thank you Steph and George.

This is one of three photographs that I miraculously made it into. I’m not sure how it happened, but it must have been some kind of accident. the partisan is made completely out of wood. Even the cups. The sound was totally awesome. Thanks RC.

The shield is definitely part of our merch set up. We had it made at the renaissance faire in Mountain View by some guy in sweatpants and a Viking helmet that lived in his grandparent’s basement.

We played with Watercolor Paintings (the band, not the paintings) and a few other good bands up in the front yard. All of these people are #1 in some capacity, and were all super nice.

Back in long beach on our way home. This is either the back of my head or the homeowners, Alathea. Im trying to be optimistic here and think its mine. It’s the only house that we stayed at that didn’t have cable and we were able to take a night off from “Americas Top Model” which is apparently all the rage.
