Lux Art Institute welcomes Alison Moritsugu

Hawaiian Artist, Alison Moritsugu began her month long residency at Encinitas based Lux Art Institute.  Known for her ellaborate floral designs and wallpaper installations, Alison's creative process will be open to the public through Lux's artist residency program.  This Wednesay (Nov. 19th) admission to Lux is free from 7-9pm for their monthly Lux @ Night series.

This month's event also features live music by Calico Horse.

Alison: As my work has become sculptural and larger in scale, I have visualized creating more complete room installations. Wallpaper seemed the next step, allowing me to create more encompassing environments. Although I am a landscape painter, I have always been drawn to the decorative arts.

Ms. Moritsugu, my son and I visited the KMA and saw your wood slices "Wilderness." Once we returned home I started trying to find out more about your work. I was very moved by the intricate paintings. I hope that I can see more of your work in the future.
