Your Friday Night : 10/29/10

Friday night brings new art openings to SD, and if you’re looking for an easy plan for the night, I’ve got one for you. While not an official “Kettner Night”, the block will be hot with openings at Jett Gallery, Subtext, and even Casbah.

Jett Gallery : You’ve Got A Very Soft Vision Of Art (6-10pm)

New paintings, sculptures, and mixed media assemblages by local artists Neko, Joey Vaiasuso, and Bret Barrett. Music by Trademark, Psycopop, and DJ Tenshun.

Subtext : Dia De Tus Muertos (6-10pm)

Street tacos provided by El Camino and Tequila tastings provided by KAH Tequila. The meaning of El Dia de Los Muertos (The Day of the Dead) is simple but poetic: As long as we remember our dead, they will live forever. The moment we forget them, then they are truly gone. To celebrate our lost souls, this year, Subtext is happy to host a group show curated by Jorge R. Gutierrez and Sandra Equihua entitled Dia De Tus Muertos (Day of Your Dead). This is sure to be an amazing show with a lineup featuring Israel Sanchez, Sandra Equihua, Martin Ontiveros, Amanda Visell, Lorelay Bove, Gerald de Jesus, Sadie Figueroa, Rhode Montijo, Simon Varela, and Jorge R. Gutierrez.

Casbah : SPOOKY VUE 6: "The Zombie Prom"(8:30pm)

The return of THE VISUAL UNDERGROUND with twisted short films, VU Art, performances by the Creepy Creeps & The Lords of the New Removed Church. Make your zombie transition and get your new suit on for a Prom where "EVERYBODY GETS BRAINS". $14/Door $10/Presale

In case you need help navigating the area, here is a handy map, complete with El Camino's location for your late night Micheladas.

See you Friday night!
